THE CIGAR CITY ORDER OF THE RED BANNER BEER DINNER

We are extremely excited to announce that Birch & Barley will be hosting the legendary Cigar City Order of The Red Banner Beer Dinner in Washington, DC this year.

We could not think of a better way to kickoff DC Beer Week 2017 than by pouring 5 very limited release variants of the spectacular Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout alongside the delicious creations of our Executive Chef Bill Williamson.

This is a beer dinner of epic proportions, and one you can not afford to miss. We will be debuting the previously unreleased Double Barrel-Aged and Cognac Barrel-Aged variants of Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout. Other notables include, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout and Bourbon Barrel-Aged Penultimate Push, both available exclusively through the El Catador Club.

CHURCHKEY PRESENTS… THE CIGAR CITY SHOWCASE

Join us on Monday, August 21st as we welcome our good friends from Cigar City Brewing Company. On this night, we’ll pour 10 very special drafts from the Tampa, FL brewery!

Don’t miss your chance to try some truly exceptional beers from this out-of-market brewery. Highlights include Argumentum Ad Populum, an Imperial Stout aged in Apple Brandy barrels with marionberries and black raspberries; Absolutely Okay, a dark and boozy Belgian ale brewed with De Struise Brouwers; and Lue Gim Gong, a tropical pale ale finished with orange peels and white oak.

There is no admission fee for this event. All Cigar City beers will be priced individually by the glass and in 4 oz. tasting pours.

Not to be outdone, our downstairs dining room Birch & Barley will host the Order of the Red Banner Dinner, on the same evening. THE WASHINGTON, DC TOTAL TAP TAKEOVER: 55 DC CRAFT-BREWED BEERS!

THURSDAY, AUGUST 24TH @ 4PM

On Thursday, August 24th, in celebration of DC Beer Week 2017, ChurchKey will once again devote all 55 of its draft and cask lines to beers brewed right here in the District. Not only does this mark the third time that we've turned over each and every one of our taps to our DC Craft Brewers, this will once again be the largest single tapping of DC Craft Brews...ever.

A true tribute to the collective greatness of DC's brewing scene, the evening will start at 4 PM and go all night. We are expecting a wide array of flagships, seasonals, one-offs and rarities--both on cask and on draft--from 3 Stars, Atlas, Bluejacket, DC Brau, District Chophouse, Hellbender and Right Proper. Word has it that the men and women who make all of these gems will be in the house throughout the night as well!

On Friday, August 25th, ChurchKey will once again showcase a number of direct-from-Germany brews dispensed via rubber-clad gravity kegs.

This time we’ll feature 5 different beers from 3 classic German lager producers, Krug-Bräu (Waischenfeld-Breitenlesau), Zehendner (Burgebrach-Mönchsambach) and Wagner-Bräu (Kemmern).

Come discover the beautiful and delicately-nuanced lagers of Franconia, Germany. Each unfiltered, unpasteurized and naturally dispensed from traditional rubber-clad kegs. This is a unique opportunity you will not want to miss!
